Seasoned Reporter Joins FredEx

The Frederick Extra is pleased and honored to welcome a seasoned reporter to the FredEx family. Gillian Grozier, a recent transplant from Connecticut, will primarily be covering education issues in Frederick County.

Grozier began her career with the Enterprise, a newspaper covering several towns in Westchester County, NY. As a beat reporter, she wrote on politics, education, real estate, business, planning and development for the town of Ardsley, NY. She later brought the Enterprise into her hometown of Irvington, NY, covering local news stories.

Gillian then moved on to Gannett’s Westchester Rockland newspapers working out of the Ossining, NY newsroom and later wrote for Gannett’s Sunday lifestyle magazine on topics from travel to fashion. She also began freelancing articles for national magazines such as House Beautiful and Better Homes and Gardens. She was a contributing editor for Hudson Valley Magazine, a monthly regional publication, and developed a specialty in writing on design.

Covering a story about an architectural firm, she was approached by the president to take on his firm as a private client. So began a career as a publicist representing clients in New York and Connecticut. Her writing included web content, case studies, white papers and public relations campaigns. Gillian moved to Frederick in November 2016 and filed her final press release for the firm, now dissolved, in February, 2017. An advocate of on-the-ground reporting and local news, Gillian is delighted to return to her roots by covering local issues.
