UPDATED: Accident victim flown to Shock Trauma


UPDATE: The driver of a Volvo, headed northbound on Rt. 15, made a U-turn in the middle of the single-lane road and was T-boned by a Jeep Wrangler that was in the southbound lane, according to witnesses and the driver of the Jeep, said Trooper First Class Jay Blumenauer of the Maryland State Police.

The driver of the Volvo was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center; a passenger in the Volvo was taken by ambulance to the Meritus Medical Center in Hagertown, and the Jeep driver was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, said Blumenauer. The officer said he could not release the names of those involved until Wednesday, June 14.

Maryland State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision earlier today on U.S. Rt. 15, south of U.S. Rt. 340, near Elmer Derr Road. According to state police, the driver of one car was trapped in a vehicle by a collapsed door. Once extricated, the individual was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by state medevac's Trooper 1. The highway was shut down for a brief time and is reopened, according to state police.
