Diggs Files for County Council

Make that three candidates who have officially filed to run for election in the 2018 gubernatorial race. Republican Dylan Diggs of Frederick filed his candidacy for county council, District 1, with the Maryland Board of Elections on June 28, according to the state's board of elections website. District 1 encompasses a portion of Frederick city, Brunswick, Buckeystown and more, here.

Diggs, pictured left, joins fellow Republicans, Registrar of Wills Sharon Keller and Regina Williams, former county budget director, who have formally filed to run for political office in 2018. Candidate Diggs hails from Frederick, and graduated from Linganore High School, The Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University.

An evaluation specialist at the International Republican Institute, chaired by Sen. John McCain, Diggs said in an email that he is "an international democracy and governance expert specializing in evaluating the effectiveness of government programs." He is running for the Frederick County Council, he said in an email, "as a Republican who wants to encourage opportunities for businesses and families by keeping taxes low, limiting regulations and ensuring education is supported in the community."
