Hearing that a state delegate is showing up with a senatorial escort to county events not in her district. Prepping for a run at County Executive Jan Gardner's job in 2018? Good citizen? Or just living a sad and boring life?

She might have some competition with a few members of the County Council, who are said to be eyeballing the Executive Chair. Now that will be worth a ticket and a tub of popcorn or two.

Overheard at a recent government-style gathering [paraphrased]: Civilian to County Council Member: I might like to live on a farm someday. What's that like? CCMember: Sharecropping went out about 100 years ago [actually, it's more like 60.] The civilian was black. Imaginary bystander #1: If that was meant as a joke, it kinda fell flat. Imaginary bystander #2: Ya think???
