Oops! FHS gets new name?

And now for your moment of Zen ...

The new Frederick High School currently under construction was inadvertently renamed this week by subcontractors who obviously aren't from FredErick - at least we hope not. The two brick and stone pillars gracing the front of the new school welcomed students and visitors to "Fredrick High School."

Frederick County Public Schools' Michael Doerrer said in an interview that the pillars have been removed and new ones, with the proper spelling, are being recut. He's not sure how long it will take to recast the new pillars, but the cost is on the contractor, not FCPS.

Thanks to eagle eye Chris Long who captured the gaffe [see photo above] before it could come down, reminding us all that proofreading is fast becoming a lost art. Yes, I know! We make our share here, too. Fortunately, The Frederick Extra's stories are not carved in stone.
